Architectural designer, 3D printing maker and designer

Hi! I am an architectural design professional focused on architecture in healthcare, civic and institutional environments. I have worked on multiple large-scale projects including hospital redevelopment, community recreational facilities, urban center master planning, and mixed-use commercial developments at various stages. As a certified Evidence-Based Design (EBD) professional, my interests and research focus on forward-thinking urban development strategies toward creating healthy and sustainable environments for urban living.

Seeks clarity in complexity -

making beautiful things and places practical,

sustainable and adaptable.

Growing up in Hong Kong - a city proud of its density and tall skyline - has inspired my interest in architecture in the urban context, particularly mix-used urban buildings. More so, working and living in the Greater Toronto Area for the past 15 years, I have become increasingly interested in the tension and the possibility in the design opportunities that lie between the urban and the suburban built environment. Also, being a mother of 3 young children, I am passionate about improving the built environments for the contemporary family's everyday life - the home, the community, the play, the work, the healthy harmony of all and everything else in between. Simply put, it should not be hard to have children and be able to enjoy going places.

An architect once told me, "remember, ADAPT, IMPROVISE and OVERCOME". To me, the process of designing means re-visiting the existing and finding clarity each time a solution is found. It's a process of multi-disciplinary collaboration and continuous iteration to improve and resolve challenges through drawing, modelling, and collaborating in creating efficient systems in the virtual environment before it becomes the reality.

Being a maker in the 3D printing community gives me access to hone and exercise my design instincts and habits. It brings me so much joy to see designs turn into reality in such a short amount of time.
